As Malaysians mourn the passing of prominent Opposition Member of Parliament Karpal Singh, one former MP is receiving condemnation for rejoicing over the veteran lawmaker's death.
Singh, a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), died in a car accident Thursday morning. He was known as one of the most committed opponents of hudud, Islamic criminal code. Arguing for secular law in the country, he once stated hudud would be implemented "over my dead body".
Immediately following Singh's death, former People's Justice Party (PKR) MP Datuk Zulkifli Noordin tweeted:
@zulkiflinoordin: The Kelantan PAS government wants to enforce hudud law with the help of UMNO. God has killed off Karpal who was the major opponent of its implementation!
