Umno legal adviser Mohd Hafarizam is matching Bung Mokthar in the silly statements department.
GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that the incorrigible Bung Mokthar Radin has some competition when it comes to making inane remarks.
He was referring to the ‘period man’ Umno legal adviser Mohd Hafarizam.
Hafarizam said yesterday that PKR assemblywoman Wan Azizah Wan Ismail could not become a menteri besar because she would face many obstacles in accompanying the Sultan when she had “uzur syarie” (menstruation).
This is on par with Bung Mokhtar’s statement when he saluted fallen German dictator Adolf Hitler on Twitter after Germany thrashed Brazil in the World Cup semi-finals.
Lim said Malaysia may even be known as a country which prevents women from holding high posts and will once again be the laughing stock of the world.
“The statement is damaging not only to the Prime Minister, but to Barisan Nasional and Umno as well.
“People will lose faith in the parties which make such remarks, ” Lim told a press conference at Komtar today.
The DAP secretary-general urged Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to sack Mohd Hafarizam for causing embarrassment to the country and to uphold human rights.
“This has everything to do with the nation’s image and dignity,” he added.
