Gov’t must show intruders we mean business

YOURSAY ‘Can gunmen walk in and out of Sabah anytime, anywhere?’

Fatal shootout in Pulau Mabul as Najib visits Sabah

Ferdtan: If a fatal gunfire fight between suspected Filipino gunmen and our security forces can happen in Sabah when PM Najib Razak was in the state, still does not stir his administration into pro-active action to quickly solve the worsening security problem there, then nothing will.

Come on, if the police cannot handle the situation, call in the army; forget about the useless Sabah Eastern Security Command (Esscom).

Esscom is seen to be more of a ‘business-venture’ than a security unit. Show the foreign terrorists (or possibly they have become ‘instant’ Malaysians already) that we mean business and will not tolerate such criminal acts.

Najib, where is government’s resolve to keep Sabah safe? If BN ministers still think Sabah is safe and want to reassure the panic-stricken Sabahans, we propose Najib hold its weekly cabinet meeting at least once a month in Kota Kinabalu.

Use the army to flush out illegal immigrants, foreign terrorists and their sympathisers. Have large scale house-to-house searches to drum in the message that ‘enough is enough.’ The legal Filipino/Suluk community there will be forced to decide, if they want to live peacefully, to cooperate with our security force to get rid of these intruders.

This is the strong leadership former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was talking about.

BBBTT: Maybe one day the people of Sabah might live under a government run by the Suluks. As legals and illegals, they represent more than 40 percent of the population of Sabah anyway.

Doc: Under BN, Sabah has been consistently the poorest state in Malaysia despite having abundant natural resources.

The true bumiputera of Sabah have been sidelined from running Sabah and the control of Sabah is directly under Umno.

It has resulted in rampant abductions of foreigners for ransom from Sabah resorts, poor representation of Sabahans in the federal government, poor job opportunities in Sabah (unless you are a militant), rising poverty, etc.

Not forgetting, the Project IC, the bumbling handling of the Lahad Datu incursion by militants by both the home and defence ministers last year, and corruption goes on unhindered.

Despite the worsening economic, political, religious and social problems under BN for years, rest assured that Sabahans are loyal to BN.

The more hardships imposed on Sabahans at the hands of Umno-BN, the more fervent their love for BN will be, and they will vote BN again and again.

Ren Ai: Sometimes I get the feeling that Malaysiakini and DAP are so desperate and biased that they nit-pick at every issue, even the ones that are beyond the leaders’ control.

We are talking of vast coastal borders infested with pirates and people who have never heard of Najib or Penang CM Lim Guan Eng. Despite all the security measures, attacks can still occur.

Last time Malaysiakini rained heavily on former premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's sleepiness. Now it seems preoccupied with Najib's weak leadership and harps on it just like Utusan Malaysia'spreoccupation with making non-Malays and non-Muslims the bogeyman to the Malays.

I am no BN sympathiser, but I hope Malaysiakini will review what it is doing as this is becoming stale and disgusting.

Fair Play: Ren Ai, why not tell that to the families of the deceased corporal Rajah Jamuan and constable Zakia Aleip, who is missing and believed to have been kidnapped, as well as the rakyat there who are living in constant fear?

Would you say the same if a member of your family was a victim?

Broken Foot: The nation's security forces definitely has far greater resources, numbers and firepower at their disposal. The question is why are these attacks happening?

It is well and good making reassuring press statements but the situation on the ground has not improved and it is getting from bad to worse. It is apparent that our military top brass and their political masters are unable or incapable in managing our military adequately.

Headhunter: It’s time to call for the sacking of the home minister. The main cause is Project IC which encouraged hundreds of thousands of illegals to come into the country.

There's no need for terrorists to enter the country because they are already embedded in the state, living and even working for the government. Sabah is now paying for Umno's sins and follies.

Negarawan: These repeated incursions by foreign militants, and the utter failure of the defence forces in deterring them despite their better armament and larger numbers, clearly is a sign of significant weaknesses in our defence system.

Should there be any military attack on a large scale, there is low confidence that Malaysia is battle ready.

Compare the leadership of the Malaysian armed forces with that of Singapore. Many Malaysian generals don't even look physically fit.

Oh Ya?: This is not a simple intrusion. It is a declaration of war by the Filipino terrorists which were aided and supported by none other than Putrajaya and other Arab countries. They are the real ingrates.

Would Putrajaya dare to declare war on them? Would Putrajaya dare to take back the ICs that were, and still are, given to them just to shore up its grab on power? Would Putrajaya dare to tell them to go back to Philippines?

Kamikasi: It is very obvious that the intruders are thumping their nose at the security in Sabah.

We have brave people from Isma, Perkasa, and many Malay extremist groups who will save no breath to threaten the peace-loving people in this country but are quiet when dealing with the Muslim intruders.

Why? The victims are non-Muslims, that's why.

Anonymous: There are thousands of legal Suluks already in Sabah, thanks to Project IC and everyone is a potential terrorist.

Amah: And what has happened to the RCI (royal commission of inquiry) report on Sabah? -Mkini
