He's using the kids to get donations from the public - Hindu mom slams Muslim convert ex-hubby
KUALA LUMPUR - M. Indira Gandhi has rejected her Muslim convert ex-husband’s claims that two of their children were “unhappy” at being away from their father and want to join their younger sister with whom he absconded five years ago.
When contacted, the Hindu mother said Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah’s allegation was “totally untrue”, suggesting that he was merely “using the name of children” to garner sympathy in a bid to fund his legal battles.
“I think he just wants publicity to get donations. What he says is not true,” the mother of three told The Malay Mail Online when contacted, noting that Mohd Ridzuan never fought for the custody of the two elder children.
Mohd Ridzuan and Indira have been locked in a five-year-long custody tussle over their youngest child, Prasana Diksa, whom the former took and refused to return to Indira despite civil court orders to do so.
While Indira acknowledged that her elder daughter Tevi Darsiny and son Karan Dinish was close to Mohd Ridzuan, she said the the situation changed after they became estranged.
“They used to be close when he was there as a father, but after he left, he has never come to see them,” she said, adding that she has never stopped Mohd Ridzuan from coming to visit the two children.
Indira also said that her two children, now in their teens, now “don’t want to go to him” after witnessing their father’s deeds in the custody tussle over Prasana Diksa.
“They are much happier here. They are much happier to be with me. I’m sure Diksa will be same state if she is back with us,” she said, indicating that Mohd Ridzuan would not be able to care for her youngest child with his reported status as someone without a fixed income.
In an interview with Malay paper Harakah Daily earlier this week, Mohd Ridzuan said he misses his two older children who have been residing with their mother since the custody row began in 2009, adding that they too miss him and were “unhappy” with Indira.
The same Harakah Daily article quoted Mohd Ridzuan as saying he does not have a fixed job but wants to go to the Court of Appeal to challenge the Ipoh High Court’s decision to grant full custody of all three children to Indira.
The article urged those who “sympathise” with Mohd Ridzuan to bank in their donations to his or his lawyer Mustafa Kamal Mat Hassan’s Maybank accounts.
In the protracted child custody dispute that stretched over five years, the Shariah Court granted Mohd Ridzuan custody of his three children in September 2009, while Indira won full custody in the civil High Court on March 11, 2010.
Ridzuan, who previously went by K. Pathmanathan, left the couple’s home in 2009 with Prasana and the birth certificates of all three children, which he used to unilaterally convert them to Islam.
Indira later secured two orders from the Ipoh High Court, one in 2010 and another this year, instructing Mohd Ridzuan to return Prasana to her.
She has since moved to cite him for contempt for his continued refusal to do so owing to a conflicting Shariah court order in his favour.
The case is now due to appear before the Court of Appeal on July 24 after the Attorney-General and Inspector-General of Police applied to intervene in an attempt to resolve the conflict arising from opposing orders from the civil and Shariah courts in this instance and another in Seremban. -Malay Mail
