Indira's ex-husband longs to see elder kids

K Pathmanathan @ Muhamad Ridhuan Abdullah, who is involved in an inter-religious custody dispute with his former wife M Indira Gandhi in Ipoh, said he misses his two children who have been staying with their mother the past five years.

According to Harakah Daily, Ridhuan (left), who has the youngest child, six-year-old Prasana Diksa (Ummu Habibah) with him in Kota Bharu, the two have now changed schools.

He said he converted all his children in March 2009, but the last time he met the two older children was at the end of that year.

At the time, Ridhuan said, Tevi Darsiny (Ummu Salamah), 17, and Karan Dinesh (Abu Bakar), 16, were studying at Sekolah Raja Perempuan Ipoh.

“They are close to me. The last time we met was when I managed to bring them to McDonald's. They were happy. They even asked why I did not bring them along as I did Prasana Diksa.

“It brings me to tears when I remember the separation. They truly wanted to follow me with their little sister,” he is quoted saying byHarakah.

The Ipoh High Court has issued a warrant of arrest against Ridhuan for his failure to return Prasana Diksa to her mother (right in photo) after custody of all three children were granted to Indira.

However, Ridhuan has a Syariah High Court order granting him custody of the three children.

Ridhuan said he is taking his case to the Court of Appeal to seek justice and hence, he pleaded to donors to help pay his lawyer fees as he does not have a stable income.

'Never provided for the children'

In view of the conflicting civil and syariah court orders, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar applied to intervene and suspend both the court orders requiring the police to assist in getting the children.

The IGP's application to intervene and stay the recovery order is to be heard by the Court of Appeal on July 24, along with another inter-faith custody dispute involving S Deepa and N Viran of Seremban.
In an immediate reaction, lawyer and Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran expressed shock that Ridhuan is seeking public donation to pay his lawyers.
"Indira told us that Ridhuan is unemployed most of the time and frequently goes to a neighbouring country.

"More shocking to her is Ridhuan's claim that two other siblings want to be with the father. This, according to Indira, is far from the truth," Kulasegaran said in a statement.

He added that Ridhuan has not provided funds to care for the two elder children, nor has he visited them since 2009.

"The best he can do for the family will be to return Prasana Diksa to the family in Ipoh and apologise to all for the anxiety and suffering he has been instrumental of."
