Isma, young Malays are thinking for themselves

YOURSAY ‘You cannot keep the young suppressed and fooled for too long.’

Isma: DAP's 'awek cun' an ugly development

Ratbatblue: Isma vice-president Abdul Rahman Mt Dali’s comments reflect his frustration in seeing young Malays being courted by an opposition party. But Isma, by its own claim, is not a political party, so why the fuss?

Of course, we know that Isma is strongly affiliated to Umno, hence the raving and ranting on not understanding the social contract, Islam, etc.

Abdul Rahman just cannot imagine that there are younger Malays out there who can think for themselves, and who will not be led around like sheep.

It’s time that more and more of the younger generation take the cue and come forward to speak their minds. Umno has already had 57 years to do so, so now is the time to give others a chance.

All this social contract, defending the faith, Malay rights being eroded, etc, has to cease since they never happened in the first place, and were never at all in jeopardy at any time.

Mosquitobrain: There is no logic to link erosion of religion and Islam if one chooses to join DAP. Why mention only DAP, not PKR or PAS?

Homesick: Umno-BN is very frightened of DAP. The simple reason why Umno-BN is only gunning for DAP is because it is gaining momentum and popularity among the Malays.

So they are using all their resources to label DAP as a Chinese party which is out to undermine Islam and the Malay race.

For a start, DAP is not a race-based party. It actually stands for Democratic Action Party and anyone is welcome to join.

Mushiro: It is not that DAP is successful in "hoodwinking" young Malays, but it is more that Umno-BN is more successful in frustrating young Malays and Malaysians.

Anonymous #20513663: If any reasonably intelligent person of reasonable goodwill really understood Umno Baru, they would not join the party as its fascist ideology may lead to an erosion of their humanity.

However, many are prevented from arriving at an accurate understanding due to the government-controlled media. We are, after all, presently ranked 147th in the world for media freedom.

SSMal: "DAP is using these Malay girls to mask its dangerous struggle on the position of the Malays and Islam," said Abdul Rahman.
I don’t see any of these being true in Penang. He is imagining and creating invisible enemies for Malays and Islam, so that he can get recognition, position and funds.

P Dev Anand Pillai: The thinking Malays seem to see Umno as a party that seeks to make thinking Malays enter the prepared mind moulds that they all emanate from.

These young intelligent and brave girls are blazing the path for more thinking Malays to follow.

Kawak: I find Isma and its leaders not much different from the Ukraine rebels in their mental state. Their minds are overwhelmed with hatred for the other party.

The rebels' hatred was so great that they were so reckless in using an anti-aircraft missile to murder nearly 300 innocent humans. If Isma is allowed to continuously spew hatred, it could be as dangerous.

Ferdtan: Talking about women, where is Umno MP Bung Moktar Radin? Why no comments from him on his favourite topic?

So even with the mighty force of Umno-BN government machinery together with the mainstream media in making Malaysia a one-sided Malay-centric nation, filled with bigotry, the young Malays are not buying it.

This shows that the youths of today are more discerning; they know what is true and what is false.

‘Syabas’ to Syefura Othman and another well-known trendsetter, former Teluk Intan candidate, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

This is the type of politics we have been dreaming of for the ‘New Malaysia’ - a nation with no colour and religious bias. It will come ultimately with education, though not in my lifetime.

Ipohcrite: Poor Abdul Rahman. When Isma failed to promote its brand of snake-oil politics to young smart Malays, he starts to condemn and belittle the intellectual acumen of those Malays who chose to join DAP.

He doesn't realise that this is the age of the Internet and the new generation of Malays simply have had enough of Isma's racist and fear-of-its-shadow political mentality.

Fair Play: DAP, don't flaunt what you achieved by giving it publicity. You may win this battle, but you'll lose the war in the long run.

Great achievers are those who work tirelessly, not seen, not heard, but create compelling change in the long run.

MinahBulat: Abdul Rahman, is this not a sign that Perkasa and Isma are not attractive to the Malays themselves? Syefura looks cool and she is very pretty like Dyana Sofia.

These are forward-thinking Malays who dare to open their mind and defy the race card that you are playing.

Win them back if you can; and if you cannot, there is something very wrong with your hate and racist ideology that you have been preaching.

Armageddon: Give the choice between a ‘cool’ party and a ‘hot’ party that promotes cronyism and corruption, I would join the ‘cool’ party.

JMC: You cannot keep the young suppressed and fooled for too long. The awakening of the youths among all races in all nations is a sure thing waiting to happen.

No force, however mighty, can ever stop the young from bringing change. -Mkini
