Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin should back his claims that “various quarters” are out to take advantage of Muslim disunity to threaten Islam’s position, DAP said.
Issuing the challenge, DAP vice chairperson Teresa Kok (left) also urged Muhyiddin to be “more responsible” in making such comments as it can incite anger.
“Such a statement can actually have the impact of causing racial misunderstanding and inciting public anger and as the nation’s deputy prime minister; he should be more responsible and careful with his comments.
“If Muhyiddin has any evidence, he should reveal which body or individual has questioned the position of Islam as the official religion of the federation,” she said in a statement.
Yesterday Muhyiddin was quoted by Bernama as urging Muslims to unite as “various quarters” are out to take advantage of Muslim disunity to question Islam’s position in the federation.
