The prime minister and a leaderless football team – Chris Wong

On the aftermath of Brazil’s world cup semi-final defeat to the German with a shocked score line of 1-7, the world must wonder what had happen to the host nation. Being dismantle in less than 20 minutes with the score line stood at 0-5 even before the half time whistle, one can only wonder what will be the coach pep talk inside the dressing room during half time break.
Over the other half of the globe, Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Right Honourable Dato’ Sri Najib Razak was commenting during a function that a void in leadership would spell disaster for Malaysia, just like Brazil’s unceremonious exit from the World Cup earlier in morning.
The prime minister said it was evident in Brazil’s 1-7 semi-finals loss to Germany that there was simply no leadership to keep the World Cup hosts’ backline together. “When I watched Brazil, their defence was all over the place. I put it down to lack of leadership. There was no proper leadership”, said Najib Razak.
Rakyat is wondering where is the leadership in this trial time? I could not hide, that I am referring to Najib Razak, the prime minister who is the executive head of the country, of where his leadership is needed badly right now. I am also here to say that not all issues or problems is created by him but by people from both political divide. In today’s time there seem to be a lot of little napoleon running around calling the shot and making damages that are irreparable to the country image. Blaming social media will be the easiest thing to do but setting the right policy and enforcing will be such a difficult one if the leader themselves is not firm enough.
I always ponder to myself and reaffirm that leaders make difficult decision, and not popular decision. An indecision is still a decision.  Opposition will always be opposition caused they always said the opposite things while lobbyist will always be lobbying because that what they do. 1 Malaysia was a good hall mark to bring people together but with so many loose cannon around by leaders of both political divides and no action is being taken against them what do we expect 1 Malaysia to be? We have lost our value, the value that was instilled by our founding fathers.
Today Malaysia is no more than a haven for lobbyist, cronyism, nepotism and people with vested interest. While these groups of people does exist in other countries, but it’s an open and healthy competition for everyone to compete fairly. Just ask our neighbour Indonesia let alone Singapore and they can tell you of their remarkable journey.
Today our country Malaysia, need a leader who can represent all races irregardless of creed and relgion. We need a leader who set the standard, strong work ethics, admit wrong doing, serve others rightly, have long lasting impact and deflect their own recognition.
As Roy Disney puts it, “It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are". Don’t let our nation be ruined apart by indecisive leadership and our children down the roads will blame our generation for causing the nation to fall apart.
Mr Prime Minister, its time and we need your leadership now more than ever! Malaysia needs you! The people needs you!  With leadership, it will keep the backline of our country together! Make it simple, things need to be done rightly.
