A time for everything under the sun – Tan Eng Bee

There is a wise saying that goes like this: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."
What this wise man, in short, is saying is, there is a time for everything under the sun and we should not be wasting our precious time doing meaningless things, saying meaningless things, and engaging in meaningless things that do not matter at this time and season, but rather we should be putting our hands on to the plough doing the right things at the right time.
Sad to say, we have individuals who do not understand that time and tide do not wait for them as when opportunities come knocking at their doors they seen not wanting to response, instead choose to close the door and slumber while the wise choose to respond and make the best out of what is offered to them.
There is a time to take a back seat and there is a time to act with courage. When it is time to venture beyond our current achievements, many choose to remain in their comfort zone, unwilling to pay the price thinking they have arrived at the pinnacle of success and fulfillment.
For the politicians too, there is a time for everything. Politicians were elected into office for a purpose and that purpose is to serve the people and nation, failing which, they are wasting their time which can be better used elsewhere.
One should not stay longer than necessary and when it is time to go, one should just go gracefully. There is a time to serve, a time to leave and a time to allow and be magnanimous for those who are better, stronger and energetic to carry on the work.
There is a time to shout and yell at the wrong things happening in our nation and there is a time when we just have to remain quiet as this is not our time but someone's time to do his part even though the situation appears disturbing and worrisome.
When one has left the political scene, he should maintain his composure and allow that person entrusted to the job to do it well.
You had your time and chance, now that time and chance belong to someone else. Be gracious and let go.
Remember, we don't have much time dwelling on unimportant and irrelevant things. The world is changing with every passing minute and we have to concentrate on matters that really matter to us as an individual, as a family, as a business entity and as a country striving to carve our future in the international community.
This is a time where we come together as a nation to share the grief and stand together as one for families who have lost their loved ones in the MH17 tragedy, while effort is made to find the missing MH370. This is the time to weep with those who weep and mourn with those who mourn.
We live in very troubled time where we have to be vigilant and alert as the "roaring lion" in the form of different destructive forces roaming around destroying lives and families, and recovery can be tedious and painful.
This is also the right time to uphold and pray for our government elected into office to serve the people and to govern the nation with the highest integrity, fairness and justice.
Remember, our government is put into office and instituted by the Highest Order, God Himself, to serve and govern well, failing which, the time will come where God will just remove them.
The truth is there is a time for everything under the sun. Make the best out of the time at hand. Carve your future well within the time limit and ensure you do not miss the opportunity when the time comes.
