Axed exco: PAS must choose between MB and Pakatan

Ean Yon Hian Wah, who was among the six state executive council members given the boot by Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim yesterday, has lashed out at PAS.

The DAP rep was livid that despite calls for PAS to boycott today's exco meeting, four of the latter’s excos had arrived at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam.

Ean and two other sacked DAP excos, V Ganabatirau and Teng Chang Khim, also turned up at the secretariat, with the latter claiming that the Pakatan Rakyat state government has been "hijacked by an independent menteri besar".

Ean, on the other hand, accused PAS of not respecting the spirit of Pakatan and called on the Islamic party to convene an urgent meeting to discuss the presence of its excos.

Asked whether PAS should quit the opposition bloc, Ean said it was up to PAS to decide.

"They have to choose between supporting Khalid or Pakatan on this matter," he added.

The PAS excos present were Iskandar Abdul Samad, Ahmad Yunus Hairi, Halimah Ali and Sallehen Mukhyi.

Ean also said it was "ridiculous" to have an independent candidate leading a Pakatan government.

"It is unconstitutional and politically immoral. Khalid should remember that the mandate given in the last general election was for Pakatan.

"Therefore, I request for him to step down immediately," he added.

'What protocol, Khalid?'

Meanwhile, Teng said he has some paperwork to do at the secretariat office and has an appointment scheduled with an investor.

He also questioned Khalid, who had said that the Sultan of Selangor had consented to the sacking of the six DAP and PKR exco members.

"Khalid always talks about protocol. I just want to know which protocol he had used in saying that our sacking was agreed by the sultan," he added.

An equally vexed Ganabatirau termed the termination as flawed.

The exco, who oversaw the plantation workers, poverty and caring government portfolio, said he received a phone call from a state official informing him of his termination and was told that he was not allowed to attend the exco meeting.
