DON'T INTERRUPT ROYAL HOLIDAY: No need to meet overseas, wait 'few days' more - Sultan tells Khalid, Selangorians

The Selangor palace has confirmed that beleaguered menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sought to meet the ruler overseas to discuss the current developments with regard to the political imbroglio in the state.
In a statement today, Mohamad Munir Banir said he received a request from Khalid to have an audience with the sultan, who is currently in Budapest, Hungary.
He also revealed that the sultan had turned down the request.
"I conveyed the request to his highness but the ruler told Khalid to wait until he returns home in a few days (Aug 27)," he added.
Earlier, Malaysiakini reported that a text message was circulating among Pakatan Rakyat elected reps that Khalid might travel to Budapest to meet the sultan.
The message also claimed that the menteri besar would advice the sultan to dissolve the state assembly to hold a fresh polls.
The speculation intensified after Khalid abruptly cancelled his meeting with the state civil servants, scheduled for this morning.
However, the menteri besar's press secretary Arfa'eza Aziz denied that her boss had left overseas to meet the sultan.
Fresh polls around the corner?
Yesterday, PAS dealt Khalid a devastating blow after the Islamic party supported the proposal to replace the menteri besar.
PAS proposed PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy Azmin Ali. But both PKR and Pakatan Rakyat agreed to only submit the former's name to the palace.
Speculation is also rife that the sultan might not consent to Wan Azizah helming the state. However PKR denied this.
Should the state be dissolved, Selangor, which has been under Pakatan's control since 2008, would witness a fresh election.
Political observers claimed that such a scenario could be advantageous for BN since the protracted MB crisis has eroded support for Pakatan.
But experts argued that since Wan Azizah has the backing of 43 reps of the 56-member state assembly, the clear majority does not warrant a dissolution.
On the contrary, they said Khalid should resign.
The menteri besar, however, said the sultan had advised him not to make any decision until he returns and yesterday said he would meet the ruler to advise the latter on the next steps. -M'kini
