Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied the claim by PKR
and DAP that after the last general election, Pakatan Rakyat only
submitted his name to the palace for the Selangor menteri besar post.
Therefore, he said the argument that the two parties would only submit
one name to be his successor on the grounds of convention was flawed.
"This story (on one candidate) was not properly reported.
"There were also instances where PKR and PAS submitted different
applications in 2008 and 2013," the outgoing menteri besar told
reporters after chairing the state exco meeting.
When quizzed, Khalid, however, refused to reveal who were the other candidates nominated.
Yesterday, the sultan asked Pakatan parties to submit two or more names
but PKR and DAP insisted on PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s
name only, citing convention.
According to the two parties, the Selangor palace last year requested
for more than one name but they only nominated Khalid and the sultan
consented.
