Malaysia's most notorious RAPIST & MURDERER 'Rambo Bentong' gets death penalty

Malaysia's most notorious RAPIST & MURDERER 'Rambo Bentong' gets death penalty
TEMERLOH - The notorious "Rambo Bentong" was sent to hang after the Temerloh High Court found him guilty for raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl in Bentong five years ago.
High Court judge Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman made the decision today after he found that Rabidin Satir, who testified under oath as the sole witness for the defence case, had failed to raise any doubts on the murder charge against him.
"The accused only relied on denials and afterthoughts which cannot be accepted to defense himself," he said before meting out the sentence.
The judge also said the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profile of the semen found on the victim's clothes and private part also match the accused's DNA.
However, he said Rabidin was acquitted from the charge of raping the victim since the court could not determine whether the offence was committed when the girl was alive or not.
Rabidin, 43, is currently serving 50 years behind bars for rape, unnatural sex and attempted murder.
Using a wheelchair at the court building, he was calm when the sentence was read to him in Kadazan Dusun by a court intepreter.
On March 31, the accused from Kampung Libang Ulu, Tambunan, Sabah was ordered to enter his defence after the prosecution had succeeded in proving a prima facie case against him.
He was charged with raping and murdering the victim at Lot 4168, Kampung Ketari, Bentong, between 11.30pm on March 7, 2009, and 1.50pm the next day.
Rabidin was represented by counsel Richard Bong Chong Fook while deputy public prosecutor Siti Hajar Mustaffa appeared for prosecution.
On Feb 5 last year, Rabidin was sentenced to 115 years' jail and 50 lashes of the rotan after pleading guilty to four counts of rape and one count of unnatural sex committed between 2009 and 2011.
However, on Nov 29 last year, the High Court here granted his appeal and reduced the jail term to 40 years and 24 strokes of the rotan.
On March 21 last year, he was sentenced to 18 years' jail after pleading guilty to attacking and injuring police constable Mohd Suhaimi Md Razali, 24, with a parang at a house in Taman Shahbandar Husin, Bentong, in 2012. Following an appeal, the sentence was reduced to 10 years' jail.
Rabidin was nicknamed "Rambo Bentong" as he lived in the jungle in Bentong and used a Rambo knife to threaten his victims. -NST
