MB: Sacked five violated pledge

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he sacked the five PKR and DAP state executive council (exco) members as they had violated the 10-point Aku Janji (pledge).

“The termination of the exco members’ services was done lawfully and has the sultan’s endorsement,” he asserted.

He said the five exco members could not continue in their posts after stating that they wanted nothing to do with him.

"They said that they will only attend the exco meeting to monitor the state government and would only listen to the party's instruction.

"This goes against the 10 pledges and oath of allegiance when taking oath in front of the sultan," he added.

Khalid also explained that one of the PKR excos, Rodziah Ismail, has not been sacked as she is currently overseas.

The menteri besar also expressed hope that the rakyat of Selangor would not be confused by the situation.

“The termination of the exco members’ services was done according to existing law.

“I hope the rakyat of Selangor will stay calm as the administration of the state is running as usual and the agenda of safeguarding the rakyat’s welfare will be continued,” he added.

Selangor state secretary Mohamed Khusrin Munawi had earlierconfirmed that the exco members’ sacking had received the consent of the state ruler.

The sacked DAP and PKR exco members have been told to vacate their offices in the state secretariat building with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Khalid said that the exco members had “successfully” conducted an exco meeting with the minimum quorum of four members together with three ex-officio members.

“The number is sufficient according to Article 53 (2) (b) of the Laws of the Constitution of Selangor which states that there must be at least four exco members to administer a state lawfully,” he said.
