Padang Serai MP N. Surendran was in the dock again as he was charged with sedition at Jalan Duta court complex in Kuala Lumpur, the second case against him in two weeks.
Surendran, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president, claimed trial.
He is also the second opposition parliamentarian charged today with sedition.
Earlier at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli was charged with insulting Umno members through an article published by The Edge Malaysia.
Surendran, who was represented by a team of lawyers led by Oh Cheong Ghee, was charged this afternoon in relation to a YouTube video dated August 8 in which he had allegedly said that the Anwar Sodomy II appeal was a political conspiracy involving Putrajaya.
Last week, he faced the same charge under Section 4(1)(b) of Sedition Act 1948 which carries a maximum of three years' imprisonment and fine of not more than RM 5,000.
Magistrate Ahmad Bache granted Surendran bail of RM4,000 in one surety.
He also set October 3 for case management.
Since early this week, five opposition leaders have been hauled to court for sedition and other related offences in what seen as Putrajaya's attempt to silence its political foes.
Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad was charged with sedition over remarks he allegedly made on the Selangor sultan and the Selangor Islamic Affairs Council while in Penang yesterday, Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer was slapped with two sedition charges over his "Umno celaka" remark.
Former Perak MB Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, who is also from PAS, was also charged early this week with defaming Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in a speech he allegedly made two years ago.
