Niaga Warong Durian

Well folks our Minister of Agriculture Ismail Sabri has opened a Warong Durian at Sultan Gate in Beach Street, Singapore. This is located near the Istana Kampong Glam, home of the Sultan of Johore. PM Najib Razak and Singapore PM Le Hsien Loong were present to officiate at the opening.

The Warong Durian outlet, located in Sultan Gate off Beach Road, is an agricultural-based business that promotes Malaysian fruit and products to the overseas market.

Najib : This one I give you very special price. Sing dollar $25 per kati.

Lee : Waah! Still use kati ah? I can get this in JB for RM25 per kilo only.

Najib : Yalah now JB got toll ma. Pay to RM.  Its cheaper here.

Lee: Huh? What do you mean "pay to RM"? You mean pay in RM?

Najib : Ok lah. I give you special price RM25 per kilo. Not kati.

Lee: Waah now Malaya so clever in business.

Najib : Majulah Singapura. Cash only ah. No credit card.

After eating durian the two PMs adjourned to the soccer pitch to burn off some calories.
Lee : Waah. You can really twist your legs.
Najib : Oh oh. I think it wont untwist

Lee: Is this real grass?
Groundskeeper : Yes Mr PM.
Najib : Our durians also real.

Then the time came for the S'poreans to 'belanja makan' the M'sian delegation.
They took them to the nearest mamak shop - the MY Beriani at Kallang Wave Mall.
Cost of lunch : RM25 satu kepala. Cheap cheap only.
Najib can see that Ismail Sabri is not enjoying his food.
Ismail Sabri is wondering why he is sitting opposite the groundskeeper.

From a business point of view, folks say that Beach Street in Singapore is not exactly a fruit eating place. Singaporeans go to Geylang to buy and eat durians.

This durian business has rented two shoplots. They project sales of RM5 million a year (about S$2 million) or about S$5,500 sales per day.

There is no information how much Ismail Sabri spent to set up this durian shop. Kalau ikut style gomen, maybe RM5 million? I wont be surprised. Lets see how it works out.
