There is no need for partyless Mentri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to resign for the time being, said Selangor executive councillor Sallehen Mukhyi.
“We can’t drag the rakyat into such a political crisis, into a situation where the state (administration) has to be stopped,” he explained.
“If his resignation will only cause the rakyat to suffer, better wait until the sultan is back (from overseas),’ he said when asked whether Khalid should resign.
Whatever decision to replace Khalid has to come from the sultan, who will be back on Aug 27, he said.
For the time being, Khalid can still perform his duty, making decisions and continuing the policies, he said.
The four PAS exco members will coooperate with Khalid, he said.
Meanwhile, Khalid cancelled today's monthly state exco meeting at the last minute "for unavoidable reasons".
In an email to the media at 7.40am, Abdul Khalid Ibrahim informed of the cancellation of the meeting at Dewan Jubli Perak in Shah Alam scheduled for 8am.
Khalid did not elaborate on the reasons for the sudden cancellation, saying, "...it has been cancelled for reasons that cannot be avoided".
"We apologise for any inconvenience," read his terse statement.
