PKR disciplinary chair sees ROS over Khalid

PKR disciplinary board chairman Tan Kee Kwong yesterday gave a statement to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) at Putrajaya over the expulsion of Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim from the party.

Tan met with the ROS director of the enforcement division, ASP Akmal Yahaya, for about two hours. He was accompanied by lawyer K Ragunath.

Tan told reporters later he had provided information as required by the ROS. Abdul Khalid had lodged a complaint seeking a probe by ROS to ascertain whether the decision of the disciplinary board and PKR central leadership council to expel him had violated the party constitution.

"The ROS asked about the composition of the disciplinary board, the show-cause letter issued to Khalid, the central leadership council meeting of Jan 15 and Aug 21, the Kajang Move and the list of members who attended the central leadership council meeting that expelled Khalid," he said.

The ROS also asked whether Khalid had made an appeal following his expulsion on Aug 9, he added.

Tan said the letter of expulsion signed by PKR secretary-general  Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was clear that Khalid could appeal within 14 days to the central leadership council.

"Until today, Khalid has not sent in an appeal," he added.

Tan also claimed that it was impossible for Khalid, as the PKR director for the Kajang state by-election, not to have known about the imminent change of menteri besar and the reason for the by-election.

He said Khalid was asked to meet PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail three weeks before his expulsion to discuss his position as the menteri besar but he had declined to do so, saying he had no time to attend the meeting.
