Sarawakian Bumiputera Jill Ireland filed an appeal against a High Court decision which had failed to address the issue over her constitutional right to use the word "Allah", when it only ordered that the CDs confiscated from her be returned.
Her lawyer Annou Xavier (pic) told The Malaysian Insider that the appeal was filed on Monday at the Court of Appeal registry.
"The High Court only granted an order for the return of her eight CDs.
"She intends to pursue her rights for freedom of religion, right to use the Allah word in her prayers and education, her right and the right of the Christian community to use, import, own and distribute Christian publications with the word Allah for the Bahasa Malaysia speaking community of Malaysia," Annou said.

On July 21, judge Datuk Zaleha Yusoff, ordering for the CDs to be returned, ruled that only the home minister and not any senior authorised officer, has the power to issue binding or permanent seizure orders on any material deemed as a threat to public order.
However, she did not make any ruling on the constitutional issue on whether Christians had the right to use the word “Allah” in their worship.
Following the decision, Putrajaya filed an appeal against the High Court’s decision for setting aside the order of the home ministry to confiscate the eight CDs containing the word "Allah" from Jill.

The CDs, which Ireland had bought in Indonesia for personal use, bore titles such as "Cara Hidup Dalam Kerajaan Allah", "Hidup Benar Dalam Kerajaan Allah" and "Ibadah Yang Benar Dalam Kerajaan Allah".
In August 2008, Ireland filed a judicial review of the ministry's action and a return of the CDs.
She also asked for a declaration, saying that she had the right to use "Allah" and to continue to own and import such materials.
