Umno man: Anwar turns back on sultan

An Umno division leader has lambasted Anwar Ibrahim for turning his back on the Sultan of Selangor due to his lust for power and position.

According to Syed Ali Alhabshee, who heads Cheras Umno, the crisis in Selangor has revealed the opposition leader’s true colours.

"In his bid to make (his wife Dr) Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail) a 'living doll', Anwar is willing to break the rules and disrespect the sultan," he added.

He was commenting on the move to replace current Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim with Wan Azizah, who is also PKR president.

Training his guns on DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, the Umno leader said the former should school Anwar on how to be an ethical politician.

“Lim should realise how disgusting Anwar’s political game is to the point of turning his back on the sultan over the menteri besar crisis,” he added in the Umno division’s blog today.

However, he said Lim is working with Anwar in legitimising the move to seize the menteri besar post.

"It is clear that Lim practices double standards in accusing Khalid as being unethical for sacking the excos.

"Why didn’t Lim reprimand Anwar and his PKR minions who are engineering Khalid’s downfall as this contradicts the principles of democracy?

"Why is DAP working hand in glove with Anwar?" he asked.

He took Lim to task for describing Khalid’s move to sack five state executive council members yesterday as being unethical.

Expressing support for the menteri besar, Syed Ali said since Khalid has received the consent of the ruler to continue leading the state, it was appropriate for him to sack whichever exco who backstabbed him.

Commenting on Wan Azizah’s bid to seek an audience with the sultan over the crisis, the Umno leader termed it as an eyewash.

“Anwar who is trapped after causing chaos in Selangor wants to meet the sultan. Don’t they (the opposition) have any shame or remorse for going overboard,” he added.

In view of this, Syed Ali said there is nothing left for Anwar to explain to the ruler since his “despicable” political conduct is common knowledge.
