Video alleges nudist sports event in Penang

A video clip titled ‘Penang Nudist Sports Games 2014 in Teluk Bahang’ is creating waves, with Umno blogs blaming the DAP led government for sexual depravity.

One blog even went as far as blaming Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for encouraging the matter, pointing to the alleged "intimacy" between him and Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz.

During the weekend, Nazri was in town for the George Town Festival, and was captured in several photos with Guan Eng, with both looking very chummy with each other.

Among the alleged activities shown in the video which is circulating on the internet, include nude body painting, Gangnam Style Horse Dance, Crab Walking and a campfire.

However, Umno Teluk Bahang assemblyman Shah Headan Ayoob Hussain does not want to jump to the conclusion that DAP was behind the nudist activities

"We have to ascertain whether the event is true or not, let's not politicise the issue, as no political party in Malaysia will accept such an event," he told Malaysiakini.

"The background looks like the Taman Negara Forest Reserve in Teluk Bahang, so we are afraid the video may be doctored, but we are looking into this," he added.

Authorities checking

Shah Headan said he has called on the Taman Negara authorities to check on the matter, and to go through their registration records to ascertain if any groups resembled the ones seen organising the nudist event in the video.

He suspects that the event probably took place about three months ago, the process to check the registration records will take a while as the place has some 50,000 visitors over the last three months.

He urged the individual who captured the video to come forward and verify the matter.

Shah Headan said the event could not be done in secret or an exclusive spot because the Taman Negara Forest Reserve area is very public.

"If this is true, we will lodge the necessary report with the police. We also want the video to be taken down, as it tarnished not only Penang but Malaysia as a whole," he said.

"We are also checking the necessary laws to nail the organisers, if the event actually took place," he added.
