ANOTHER HASAN ALI WHO LONGED TO BE MB: Iskandar denies Sultan will pick him
SHAH ALAM - Selangor Pas commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad today denied rumours that he will be sworn in as Selangor menteri besar on Monday.
He also denied that he has been summoned to have an audience with the Sultan of Selangor to discuss the appointment of the new Selangor menteri besar.
The Cempaka assemblyman, who has now become a top contender as menteri besar when contacted said he did not have an audience with the Sultan today as reported.
"I did not have an audience with the Sultan today as reported by the media. Neither will I do so tomorrow or the day after.
"I have no idea that I am supposedly going to take my oath (as menteri besar) on Monday," he said.
Today, several online portals quoted sources as saying that Iskandar and his two peers on the state executive council Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Sallehen Mukhyi have been summoned to the palace, believed to be linked to the appointment of the state's next menteri besar.
According to the source, Iskandar was allegedly going to have an audience with the Sultan today, followed by Sallehen tomorrow and Ahmad Yunus on Wednesday.
The three Pas excos were secretly nominated by Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang as candidates for the menteri besar post following the Sultan of Selangor's decree on Aug 27 for each Pakatan party to send more than two names to be considered.
Both Sallehen and Ahmad Yunus could not be contacted for comment at press time. -NST
