Fire shots, not shoot on sight

The idea is simply to follow current Standard Operating Procedures so it is easier for the Navy to carry out its duties.
ASIA PACIFIC SUBMARINE CONFRENCE / ABDUL AZIZ / KOTA KINABALUKOTA KINABALU: Navy chief Abdul Aziz Jaafar has clarified his “shoot on sight” statement as carried by the media.
He stressed that he never said “shoot on sight”.
“I said that we can fire shots to ensure that intruders (along the eastern seaboard of Sabah) do not encroach into our waters,” he explained in a statement.
He stressed the idea was simply to follow current Standard Operating Procedures to “make it easier for the Navy to carry out its duties”.
“We do not want a situation where we chase after an intruder and cannot do anything about it,” reiterated Abdul Aziz.
