Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic) will address the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday.
Najib leaves for the United States tomorrow.
Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said yesterday Najib would deliver Malaysia’s national statement at the General Debate of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 26.
Najib is expected to share the country’s economic transformation programmes and garner support for Malaysia’s candidature for a non-permanent member seat in the United Nations Security Council.
Malaysia is also likely to condemn efforts to effect regime change in some Islamic countries and touch on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and MH17 tragedies.
Anifah said Najib had been invited by the New York Academy of Sciences to be one of the key speakers at the international launch of the Global STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Alliance on Monday.
On Tuesday, Najib would participate in the United Nations Climate Summit 2014 at the United Nations headquarters.
On Thursday, Najib is scheduled to meet with business leaders at the Investors Roundtable Session organised by Bursa Malaysia. – Bernama
