Sallehen Mokhyi denies he’s to be next MB

Says all will be known next week while BN’s Zahid Hamidi warns the PAS-PKR-DAP alliance is on shaky ground.
Sallehen MokhyiBATU PAHAT: State executive councillor (exco) Sallehen Mokhyi has denied he is the choice of the Selangor Palace to replace Khalid Ibrahim as the new Menteri Besar of Selangor.
Sallehan, who is also Selangor Deputy Commissioner (I), was surrounded by journalists as soon as he concluded his speech to debate the address of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang at the 60th PAS General Assembly in Parit Raja.
“No, not me. We don’t know yet (the name of the new Menteri Besar of Selangor). I have no information yet (on the new Menteri Besar). It will be announced Monday morning or Tuesday. It’s definitely not me,” he said.
Other than Sallehan, also named as PAS’ candidates to replace Khalid as Menteri Besar were Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Iskandar Abdul Samad, both state excos.
Meanwhile in Tumpat, Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said that it was clear PAS’s Datuk Haron Din no longer had confidence in PAS’s political cooperation in Pakatan Rakyat.
Zahid said this based this on a statement the PAS deputy spiritual leader made alluding to the fact.
Zahid said the lack of confidence showed there were cracks in the relationship between PAS-PKR-DAP and could break up at any time.
He said the cracks could actually be seen on the nomination day for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election on Sept 13 when no DAP leader accompanied PAS’s candidate to the nomination centre.
“The tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) is now rocky. It could be because the real trickery has been exposed,” he said in his speech at a Barisan Nasional talk in Pengkalan Kubor here tonight.
Yesterday, in his speech at the PAS Ulama assembly in Kulaijaya, Haron urged that PAS’s Dewan Ulama PAS (highest decision making body) review the political cooperation in Pakatan Rakyat to see if it should be continued to avoid accusations against its leaders.
He said PKR’s decision to allow PAS to put its candidate in the Pengkalan Kubor by-election was questionable and indicated a compromise had been made.
He said PKR seemed to want PAS’s support for PKR president Wan Azizah Ismail in the Selangor Menteri Besar issue. - BERNAMA
