Selangor Palace to announce NAME of new MB latest by Monday

S'gor Palace to announce NAME of new MB latest by Monday
SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Palace will announce the name of the new menteri besar by Monday at the latest.
This was stated by the Sultan of Selangor’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani.
“The Selangor Palace will announce who the new menteri besar is by Monday at the latest.
However, it (the announcement) is up to the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor,” he said yesterday.
He said the announcement would be made either through a press statement or media conference.
Munir also said that, so far, the palace had not sent any letter to the menteri besar-designate.
In Kuala Lumpur, PKR is seeking an audience with the Sultan of Selangor in what appears to be a last-ditch attempt to secure the menteri besar post for its president, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, in a statement late last night, said the party was seeking an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in order to seek his advice on the subject.
He said, following recent developments concerning the appointment of a new Selangor menteri besar, a meeting was convened by the PKR political bureau last night, which was attended by its top leadership. The party, said Saifuddin, would not waver in its stand on the candidacy of Dr Wan Azizah as the next menteri besar.
“The position adopted by the members of the state assemblymen, who have previously expressed support for Dr Wan Azizah, has not changed. he said.
“As such, PKR Keadilan humbly seeks His Highness’ consent to an audience in order to seek his advice and blessing, as it is clear that the support of the majority has not changed.” e said.
The party, said Saifuddin, would continue to uphold the sovereignty of the sultan and the state constitution.
On Thursday, the sultan’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, had confirmed that a new menteri besar would be sworn in at the Alam Shah palace in Klang next Tuesday.
Palace sources had declined to disclose the identity of the new menteri besar, but said that “it is not a woman”. Insiders had suggested that other names included PKR deputy president Azmin Ali or Selangor Pas commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad.
The party had previously incurred the sultan’s wrath after it submitted only Dr Wan Azizah’s name for the post, despite a royal decree instructing all parties to submit at least three candidates. -NST
