DBKL BOMBSHELL! KL City Hall 'secretly sold billion ringgit plots of land WITHOUT open tender'

DBKL BOMBSHELL! KL City Hall 'secretly sold billion ringgit plots of land WITHOUT open tender'
Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai claims that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been secretly selling off plots of land, advertised as "open tender", to certain parties.
"Certain DBKL projects, advertised as open tender, have been secretly sold to some parties in the last two to three years, without an open tender.
"They have nicely wrapped it up and called 'direct negotiation'," Tan said after a DBKL draft budget briefing at Menara DBKL today.
DBKL has been selling many plots of land, Tan said, including a prime plot of land earmarked years ago to be the site for a new DBKL headquarters.
"Is DBKL so poor, or so lacking in funds? Or are some people making big bucks from selling the lands?" he asked.
Tan also plans to raise the question in Parliament once sitting resumes on Oct 27.
"I will be raising it in a parliamentary debate and want someone to be answerable to this serious question of selling off DBKL lands without public knowledge, without open tender and without details of the selling price," Tan added.
Tan was referring to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, to whom he will pose the question to.
He claimed that the plots of land sold off amounted to billions of ringgit.
The MP from DAP also demanded an explanation from the government as to why the budget allocations for development have been reduced.
"We were provided an itemised expenditure of big and small projects around KL , and we have observed an increase of 100 percent to 3,000 percent in expenditure," he said.
However, since the DBKL draft budget for 2015 has been placed under the Official Secrets Act (OSA), Tan said, he cannot comment on the details or figures.
“I call upon KL Mayor Ahmad Phesal Talib (above, left) to hold a meeting with the Federal Territories MPs before the official announcement is made, so that he can brief us on how the money will be spent,” he said.
Tan and nine other Federal Territories parliamentarians were present at the KL mayor's draft 2015 budget briefing at Menara DBKL this morning. -M'kini
