Harga petrol naik lagi! Tahniah kepada semua rakyat Malaysia.. Hadiah dari Kerajaan BN utk rakyat menyambut Aidil Adha hujung minggu ni..

Jangan mengeluh, jangan bising2. Menteri akan kata "harga petrol di negara kita masih murah dibanding negara maju".

Kalau rakyat bunyi lagi, datang menteri lain cakap "x suka petrol naik, jangan guna petrol".

Belum start GST lagi... Rilek.. Apa nak risau, BRIM kan ada...f/bk

Minyak naik: Rakyat luah perasaan di media sosial

'Minimal' fuel hike not a burden, says minister...

Even as the nation still reels in shock over the midnight fuel price hike, a minister has described the increase as minimal.

"If we do a calculation, the increment is minimal," Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Hasan Malek said.

"If there is going to be an impact (on inflation), it will be minimal.

"It is not big," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur after attending the Malaysian Intellectual Property Award.
As such, Hasan said, there was no reason for the traders to increase their prices, and the ministry would take stern action on them if they did.

When asked, Hasan could not guarantee there would not be another increase in the price of petrol and diesel.

“I can't promise anything. This depends on the current economic situation,” he said.

Instead, he emphasised that the increase is not meant to burden the rakyat but to strengthen the country's finances, and that in the long run, this will help the government to achieve zero deficit in 2020.

"In order to march towards that direction, (we) suffer first and will be at ease later, (sakit-sakit dahulu, senang-senang kemudian)," he said.

However, Hasan denied that the fuel price hike was an outcome of the government mismanagement of the country's finances.

"What do you mean? Don't say that the government is weak... I deny this," he fumed.

Hasan urged the people to accept the decision and to wait for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to table the 2015 Budget.

He said the prime minister, who is also the finance minister, would also be coming out with announcements meant to soften the blow of the surprise hike.

In the meantime, he urged the rakyat not to be used by those who are taking up the issue to gain political mileage.

The petrol and diesel price hikes were decided earlier but announced at this "appropriate time", he said when asked about the timing, since Muslims celebrate Hari Raya Haji on Sunday.

If the news breaks out after Hari Raya Haji, then Hindus who celebrate Deepavali then will be angry, he said, adding that Christians will celebrate Christmas after Deepavali.- mk

Anonymous_3f6d  - Another stupid statement from a MINISTER ???? Why increase when world oil price is not increasing plus the facts that we PRODUCE oil !

Rupert16  - Why is it that our ministers invariably asked that the Rakyat be grateful to the government? Shouldn't it be the other way around in light of the fact that the ministers are voted into power by the Rakyat and being paid by tax payers?

CiViC  - When it was RM1.80, it wasn't a burden. Then it was increased to RM1.85 and it wasn't a burden. Then RM1.90, RM2.10 and now RM2.30 and it's still not a burden. If it wasn't such a burden, why is it a burden for Government to bear the subsidies? If it's still not a burden, then what is?

PKR ablaze, Gerakan replies with 'cheap' shot...

The midnight increase has fueled PKR Youth's anger but Gerakan Youth attempted to extinguish the fire raging across the nation by claiming that Malaysians still enjoy among the cheapest RON 95 petrol in the world.
PKR Youth leader Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (right) said the livelihood of many Malaysians - from urban workers who need to get to work to fishermen heading out to sea - is dependent on fuel being affordable.

He said this is compounded by the fact that better public transportation remains a distant reality for most urban Malaysians.

Moreover, he added the upcoming imposition of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) meant that the price of fuel would soon become an unbearable burden for most middle to low income Malaysians.

“It's likely these groups who will be hit the hardest. This is ample proof that the federal government’s claim that Malaysians are now enjoying a better standard of living is a cruel joke,” he said in a statement.

In a sarcastic swipe, Nik Nazmi described the 20 sen increase in prices for RON 95 petrol and diesel as a “gift” to the people.
Meanwhile, Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang (right) in his response to the criticism against the government, tweeted: “RON 95 petrol is still one of the cheapest in the world. This is a fact.”

“Public transport is the long term solution for unpredictable fuel prices. Expand it further,” he added.

Nazmi added that the petrol hike was a side-effect of the federal government's failure in financial management.

He said instead, they should be looking to reduce financial wastage occurring in the privatisation of contracts, as well as plugging financial leaks before they burdened the people further.

Petrol producer

Meanwhile, PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat queried the hiking up of petrol and diesel prices when Malaysia is a petrol producer itself.

“How is it that Malaysia produces its own petrol but the people are still burdened with the hikes?”

He said that the government’s move in giving out Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (BR1M) cash hand-outs was mere eye-wash that would only benefit the people in the short term.

Suhaizan added that the fuel hike would start a domino effect that would result in the price hike of other products as well.

“The increase in price of fuel will mean that the prices for other products will be raised as well.”-mk

cheers.
