Selangor menteri besar (MB) Mohamed Azmin Ali today denied he was being vengeful towards the previous administration in freezing funds to the parliament and state constituencies of former MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
Stressing that the move was not done under his instruction, Azmin said freezing accounts has been practised even during Khalid's administration over the past six years.
"There is no revenge. That is the policy he himself had used. So, why ask me?
"After six exco members were fired, that was what Khalid did, too," Azmin told reporters after chairing the Selangor economic action council meeting in Shah Alam today.
Azmin, who is the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, said that the move by the state's finance administration to freeze the senior citizens scheme was done without any interference.
He also gave his assurance that he would continue with the scheme for the Bandar Tun Razak parliament constituency and Port Klang state constituency.
"The programme will continue. Those deserving will continue to receive help."
Asked whether he regarded Khalid as his enemy, Azmin said: " There is nothing. He is my friend".
Khalid's former political secretary, Faekah Husin, yesterday accused Azmin of practicing revenge politics by issuing the order to freeze the allocation for both constituencies.
She said that he issued the order through the state treasurer in September 25.
Her former colleague, Azmin Abidin, denied her accusations, explaining that the freeze came into effect as Khalid was now an independent representative, and did not qualify to hold the allocation.
Khalid was sacked by the PKR Disciplinary Board on August 9 after he disobeyed party orders to step down and make way for party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to assume the MB post.
Two days later, Faekah announced her decision to quit the party on grounds that she was not happy with PKR's move in sacking Khalid.
