De facto law minister Nancy Shukri, who came under fire recently over her statement that Datuk Ibrahim Ali's threat to burn Malay Bibles was in defence of Islam, said she has never supported the Perkasa president nor his religious views, The Borneo Post reported.
Nancy said she disagreed with Datuk Ibrahim Ali's extremist views but maintained that she still had to support the "rule of law" in the police and prosecutor's decision not to charge him.
She told the Borneo Post that the Attorney-General's decision not to charge the Perkasa president was based on the police's findings.
“As a minister or one of the leaders of the nation, I have to support the rule of the law, but it does not mean I agree with Datuk Ibrahim’s extreme views,” Nancy told the Post, a Sarawak English daily.
