Is the Cabinet impotent against Ibrahim Ali?

Kit Siang asks why the Cabinet has not taken a stand on Nancy Shukri's explanation of inaction against the Perkasa chief.
kitsiang1PETALING JAYA: DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang today accused the Cabinet of abdicating its “collective responsibility” of taking a stand on the de facto Law Minister’s explanation of why the government was not prosecuting Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali for his Bible burning threat.
He said it was “inconceivable” that all Cabinet members, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, would endorse Minister Nancy Shukri’s statement that Ibrahim had immunity from prosecution because he was defending the sanctity of Islam.
This was especially so in light of their support for Prime Minister Najib Razak’s intitiative of a Global Movement of Moderates,” he added.
He asked whether the Cabinet’s silence meant that all ministers were taking “collective responsibility” for Nancy’s explanation or that they had rejected it as “incorrect and unacceptable”.
“Or has the principle of collective ministerial responsibility in Malaysia degenerated in practice to mean that no one is responsible?”
Alluding to Gerakan President Mah Siew Keong’s statement that the 1Malaysia campaign needed a “tongkat ali” boost, Lim suggested that the Cabinet’s silence on the matter could be due to the lack of such an aphrodisiac.
“It is no use for MCA, Gerakan, MIC, Sarawak, Sabah and even Umno ‘moderate’ Ministers praising Najib for his recent speech at the United Nations General Assembly against religious intolerance and extremism and even pledging ‘full and strong support’ when as ministers they are not prepared to walk Najib’s talk by refusing to compromise with any form of extremism and religious intolerance,” he said.
