KLIA2 starting to make its mark

KLIA2 starting to make its mark
MERELY five months into its operation, Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) has won the approval of many passengers and visitors with its state-of-the-art facilities and services.
As Malaysia's first hybrid airport, it is poised to be a game-changer in an evolving airline business model - all the while catering to passenger and community needs.
klia2 holds prominence with its landmarks, especially with the presence of the first Skybridge in Asia (only third in the world) and the highest air traffic control tower.
The "Airport in the Mall, Mall in the Airport" themed airport aims to elevate the airport experience not only for passengers but also for meeters and greeters.
Patrons are spoilt for choice with 70 local and international food and beverage premises and staying connected as free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal.
The airport is also a transportation hub as there are taxis, buses and Express Rail Link (ERL) services available while providing other facilities, such as a clinic, aerobridges, movie lounge, sports lounge and an airside transit hotel called Sama Sama Express, for passengers’ convenience. Passengers are even able to do their grocery upon getting off the airplane.
French nationals Saint-Albin, Anne Fabrice and Anne Le Roux were impressed with the terminal's size as well as its exterior and interior design. "It's our first time in klia2 and we find it very beautiful and spacious. The design is lovely."
Locals Wan Mohd Najmiee and Zukhria Agustiani, who are also husband and wife, were pleasantly surprised when they first entered the mall-like airport.
"The airport is very nice. Because it is bigger than the old LCCT (Low-Cost Carrier Terminal) and there are new shops, people can spend time here."
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the distinctive airport integrated seamless connectivity between low-cost/hybrid and full service with KLIA.
"klia2 will play a pivotal role towards the continuous development of Malaysia's aviation industry," he said, adding that MAHB would continue to work hand in hand with all its stakeholders and partners towards yearly growth of the airport.
While it has been getting good feedback from the public on the airport's services and facilities, MAHB is set to continuously enhance them. -NST
