Malaysia Airlines CUTS FARES again as new MH370 search starts

Malaysia Airlines CUTS FARES again as new MH370 search starts
MALAYSIA Airlines is promoting new deals on its A330 and A380 aircraft as it tries to move on from the twin disasters of MH370 and MH17, both of which involved Boeing 777s.
The “Spring sale” coincides with the first week of the underwater search for MH370 which disappeared seven months ago on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Global coverage of the MH370 search in the southern Indian Ocean is likely to pose another setback for the airline, which is struggling to rebuild its image as a safe and reliable carrier.
In its latest offerings to Australian travellers, the airline emphasises the use of A330s and A380s on Asian, Middle East and European routes rather than the 777s that make up almost a fifth of its fleet.
The deals include economy return fares as low as $526 to Kuala Lumpur, $1642 (return) to Paris and $1785 (return) to London.
Business fares start from $2882 return to Phuket (ex Darwin).
The fares must be booked before October 21 and are available for defined periods.
In the month after the MH17 tragedy on July 17, international passenger numbers on Malaysia Airlines fell 15.2 per cent compared with the same month last year.
Domestic passengers were down 21.5 per cent.

Despite the falls, Malaysia Airlines recently said passenger loads on Australian flights had returned to more than 70 per cent of capacity.
Six Australians were on board MH370, and 38 Australian residents and citizens were killed when MH17 was shot down over the eastern Ukraine.
Under international law, the airline is liable to pay around $183,000 compensation for each passenger killed.
It has already paid relatives $5000 and offered further payments of $50,000.
