The Star Online, quoting the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, reported today that the man was a senior assistant director of the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry.
The man was suspected to be recruiting Malaysians to join the Middle East militant group.
It quoted Khalid as saying that more suspects, believed to be recruiters for Isis, would be nabbed soon.
"I want to assure the public that we (the police) are on top of this and we will stop them," he said.
It was reported that 14 suspects, including a 14-year-old boy, were nabbed at a restaurant in Shah Alam, bringing to 36 the total number of people arrested so far this year for alleged militant involvement.
Between January and June this year, police have arrested 23 people in various parts of Malaysia for alleged links to Isis.
