NAJIB TRYING TO BAMBOOZLE US! 'No GST' on RON95 cannot offset 20 sen hike in price - Zuraida

NAJIB TRYING TO BAMBOOZLE US! 'No GST' on RON95 cannot offset 20 sen hike in price - Zuraida
The government is fooling the people with its proposed exemption of the goods and services tax on RON95 petrol, as the 20 sen hike recently is much higher than if GST is imposed on it, says Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Zuraida said the 2015 Budget tabled by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak yesterday only further proves that BN is not able to manage the country's finances.
“They only give sweeteners, like in the past years, and add flavour, such as with the raising of the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia payment.
“Najib is also fooling the people in not imposing GST on RON95 petrol, for the price of this petrol had been raised by 20 sen a litre before the budget was tabled.
“If you do the calculation on the old price with the GST, it will be lower than the 20 sen hike. This, I consider is bad trick the government is playing to burden the people further,” Zuraida  said in a statement.
The price of RON95 petrol was raised at midnight on Oct 2, resulting in its price jumping from RM2.10 a litre to RM2.30, with the government saying it was cutting the subsidy on the petrol. RON95 was introduced in 2009, with a starting price of RM1.80.
Najib yesterday announced there will be no GST imposed on RON95 petrol, diesel and liquified petroleum gas.
Zuraida said the hike in petrol prices would result in a “domino effect”, leading to increases in prices in all sectors, including the services sector.
PAS: Global oil price is down
Meanwhile, Kedah PAS Youth said in a statement that it is time for the government to stop cheating the people that the fuel price hike is because of a hike in global oil prices.
Today, the wing said, the price of oil is US$90.73 (RM295.42) a barrel, compared with the July rate of US$103 (RM335.37) and the price is expected to drop further.
This information could be checked by any layman and this is public knowledge.
Kedah PAS Youth reminded the government that Islam emphasises on it being just, and when people are required to pay taxes, it is the government's duty to reduce the burden of society, including having subsidies.
“Islam also sees that the reason for crime taking place is the result of the economic burden the people are facing,” the wing said.
It further said the people were not satisfied with the hike and this is especially seen with several leaders from the BN as well, including Umno and MIC, voicing their objection to the petrol and diesel price hikes.
“The price of RON95 last rose in September 2013 and this year's hike represents a total increase of 40 sen,” Kedah PAS Youth added. -M'kini
