PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali announced today that Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnol Baharuddin (Morib) were suspended for one year with immediate effect.
The decision was unanimous, he said at a press conference today.
"I am considering to make an appeal on the matter," he said.
Meanwhile, Saari said he would wait for the official letter before deciding on the next course of action.
Mustafa explained that the disciplinary action taken was based on the party's constitution.
He said both Saari and Hasnul would not be allowed to take part in any party activities after this.
Both, he added, have 15 days to appeal against the decision.
"They will have to write to the Shura Council, the body with the power to make a decision on the matter," he said.
The meeting today was chaired by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and also attended by deputy president Mohammad Sabu, vice-president Salahuddin Ayub, information chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar dan Central Committee member Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
On August 14, Hasnul and Saari, along with 15 DAP asssemblymen and 13 PKR asemblymen pledged their support to Wan Azizah to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the menteri besar.
They did this ahead of the party’s central committee meeting on August 17 to decide on the matter.
Hadi had condemned the two representatives’ actions in his speech at the party’s Muktamar in Batu Pahat, Johor, last month, calling them “stooges”.
