GUESS WHO PAYS? RM677.2 mil of wastages, leakages & corruption - can Umno ever change?
The third installment of the Auditor General’s Report for 2013 tabled in Parliament pops up many more questionable circumstances that smell of leakages, wastages and corruption. To think otherwise would require a miracle. Period.
But who really cares? Do Malaysians care enough? Many within the working corridors do not even know or talk about it. So don’t we then deserve to be robbed even more?
Each year when the Auditor General’s Report card is issued we get all the leaders giving all kinds of explanations and excuses and some will even threaten that they will go after the culprits and vouch to leave no stone unturned.
Come the next year, we hear of more wastages, leakages, mismanagement and oversights. And then over the next six months the heat cools and Malaysians are back to other issues like race and religion.
Imaging the reported RM663 million wastage involving Internet facilities for our young and future leaders; RM12 million paid to military veterans who had long since died; RM1 million was even stolen from the Accountant General’s Department and nothing happened; and RM1.2 million of medicine stocks were stolen from KLGH.
That is a whopping RM677.2 million.
We are not even talking about the many more wastages in terms of man-hours; unnecessary spending; extravagance; and even the off-budgeted agencies (OBAs).
Now do we understand how much the rakyat are suffering, having to struggle all through their working life paying for all kinds of services and taxes while the wastages rob every working class citizen of a decent living?
When will the rakyat decide that enough is enough? Or shall we carry on till the cows come home?
Perhaps it is about time to go after all those culprits who have failed to manage their responsibilities and save this nation of all the wastages, leakages and mismanagement rather than be overly preoccupied in nailing University students and anyone who questions the systems.
Otherwise we citizens might as well prepare to end up like some of the neighboring countries whose citizens have to work their guts out as laborers in the slave market. -MAILBAG
