IPOH - There was an uproar in the state assembly sitting today when several Barisan Nasional assemblymen hit out at state opposition leader Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin (Pas-Changkat Jering) for alleging that Umno did not do anything for the rakyat.
His remarks angered the assemblymen, from Umno, with state executive councillor Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid repeatedly interrupting Mohamad Nizar (Pas-Changkat Jering) who was debating the motion on the state's 2015 budget.
Mohamad Nizar, a former Perak Mentri Besar, under the Pakatan Rakyat rule, claimed Umno practised racial politics and failed to help the people.
An irate Mohammad Zahir, holding up the Standing Order in hand, told the house he was surprised and amazed by such claims.
"He (Mohamad Nizar) mentioned 50 years of independence but at the same time he says Umno had not done anything.
"Changkat Jering should recall he managed to further his studies overseas with a government scholarship, " said Mohamad Zahir who reminded Mohamad Nizar that it was Umno who was at the discussion table to gain Independence from the British. -Sundaily
