Perkasa a bane on Islam

Will all those who love and adhere to the sacred truths and tenets of Islam please rise?

perkasaAs widely reported, the Penang state administrative centre of Komtar in George Town was in a lockdown for two hours yesterday as a boisterous group of right-wing Malay supporters held a protest at its main entrance against the use of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims.
Also that during a protest in Perak outside the DAP office in Ipoh, members of Perkasa manhandled a state assemblyperson and tore down a banner with Christmas and New Year greetings.
This unfortunately shows the sorry state of affairs on the ground.
Will all those who love and adhere to the sacred truths and tenets of Islam please rise? Must we continue to witness the good name and beauty of Islam being hammered by thoughtless Perkasa members and its allies, incident after incident?
With evangelisation being what it is today, do not Perkasa and its allies realise their antics, far from being a bonus, are a bane on Islam?
While the rest of humanity are re-discovering the purpose and the sanctity of life through religion, why are Made-in-Malaysia extremists drowning every opportunity to spread and share Islam with those who have yet to learn about its beauty?
Why are these self-proclaimed defenders of Islam fuelling the suspicious perceptions of non-believers?
Where are our leaders? Where are the protectors of Islam? Where are the sages? Where are our law enforcers?
As people around the world try to avert war and terror, why are Malaysians so helpless in the face of such rage on our streets in the name of religion?
To even allow Perkasa and its allies to protest in such a taunting, vulgar and vehement manner goes against the basic tenets of Islam, let alone those of other religions.
Hopefully the prime minister will decisively close the chapter on Perkasa and its allies, failing which we remain a nation silently breeding extremism, allowing it to take root.
Religion is not protected through violence and hatred but promoted and nurtured through harmony, wisdom, peace and tolerance. Malaysian Muslims, please rise to protect the beauty of Islam.
