"I want to ask who is Perkasa to give advice to our prime minister, who has been a politician for decades and was elected by the people every time he contested," Nazri said in a possible hint at Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali who lost in the last general election despite being the incumbent in the Pasir Mas parliamentary seat in Kelantan.
The Tourism Minister said Perkasa should look at themselves in the mirror before advising the prime minister.
He said what Najib does is in the best interest of the nation and his overseas trips were not for holidays.
"He goes overseas not for holidays. He is working, I know he works.
"Of course, whatever he does is for the interest of Malaysia, so I want to suggest to Perkasa who want to give advice, please look at themselves first, who they are.
"I think they are not qualified to advise the PM and it is possible that they are jealous that he goes overseas.”
Ibrahim said at the group’s annual conference last Sunday that Najib should reduce his trips abroad, be it official working visits or otherwise, and start looking inwards if he wanted to keep his top post in the government.
"I would like to advise the PM to reduce his many trips abroad. I know some are official matters and leaders from other countries also take similar trips.
"It is okay to go but because I still have some 'kasih' (love), please reduce them and start focusing on matters happening in the country before you (Najib) lose your post and the government," said Ibrahim in his opening speech at the conference.
Nazri also commented on PAS’s protest against the "Miss Tourism International: Show Extravaganza held today at Langkawi, saying the Islamist party’s objections were not significant as Malaysia is also a home to 40-45% of non-Muslims.
"It is not significant, PAS is not the Federal government, PAS must remember in this country there are also 40-45% of non-Muslims who are also rightful citizens and entitled to hold these events,” he said.
"We must remember and ensure that the rights of the non-Muslims are respected. In any case, there are no Muslim participants in the beauty pageant, and this is a world event.
"We will continue to support this event."
PAS Kedah commissioner Datuk Mahfuz Omar was reported by Malaysiakini yesterday as saying that PAS was disappointed with the Kedah state government for allowing a programme that “does not bring a healthy culture” to the society.
He had called on Kedah MB to explain his position on the programme.
"It goes against the image that he has been trying to project... to portray that he is Islamic," Mahfuz was quoted as saying.
