KUALA LUMPUR - National Association of Muslim Youth (Pembina) president Mohd Ibrahim Hasan Al-Hafiz has called on Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) president Datuk Ng Moon Hing to apologise to the Selangor Islamic religious authorities instead of demanding an apology.
In a statement on the website, Mohd Ibrahim defended the actions taken by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) after stamping the Malay and Iban-language Bibles with warning stamps, claiming BSM’s demands as crossing the limits.
“BSM’s demands are too much as what was done by Jais was to defend the faith of the Muslims.”
Ibrahim also called on Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali to be more firm in defending the principles and interests of Muslims in Selangor.
“I ask that the Selangor MB execute his responsibilities.
“Do not remain silent when there are those who try to play with the sensitivities of Muslims.”
He also hoped that Islamic organisations and other NGOs to be more courageous in coming forward to defend Islam.
Yesterday, an online news portal reported BSM had demanded that Jais authorities apologise for confiscating 30 copies of the Bibles and returning it with a stamp which bans distribution of the book to Muslims. -http://www.therakyatpost.com
