Hulu Dungun villagers without water for 12 days

Residents depending on water provided by Syarikat Air Terengganu (SATU) tankers once in 2 days.
satuDUNGUN: More than 1,000 villagers in Hulu Dungun have been without piped water supply for the past 12 days following floods in the area.
A check by Bernama in the villages in Hulu Dungun found Kampung Kuala Jengai, Kampung Rantau Panjang, Kampung Chemuak as well as Kampung Shukor without clean water, resulting in residents having to depend on water provided by Syarikat Air Terengganu (SATU) tankers in the last few days.
However, the water supply provided by SATU was inadequate, forcing residents to find alternative sources, including harvesting rainwater or getting their supply from a hill for their daily needs.
Villager Ikram Hasyim, 32, of Kampung Kuala Jengai said the disruption in water supply had made it difficult for the villagers to clean their houses after the floods.
“My double-storey house was inundated up to the roof. We badly need water to clean the house now. Besides, it would be extremely difficult to clear the mud after it has hardened,” he told Bernama yesterday. Ikram said be hoped water supply would be restored soon to facilitate the cleaning of their houses.
“Now SATU is providing water once in two days. It is just not enough despite villagers doing all they can to maximise the use of water,” he said.
