He replaces Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan whose contract ended on November 1, 2014.
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad has been appointed as the new Shah Alam mayor effective last Friday.
State secretary Mohammed Kushrin Munawi said Ahmad Zaharin’s appointment was to fill the post which had been vacant since two months ago.
This followed the end of the service contract of Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan as mayor on November 1, 2014.
Mohammed Kushrin said Hulu Langat district officer Haris Kasim was appointed as the new Jais director, also effective last Friday.
He said the appointment letters for Ahmad Zaharin and Haris were handed to them today at a brief ceremony.
