THE RESULT OF RACIAL PAMPERING: Tale of ‘racist’ RapidKL bus driver goes viral

THE RESULT OF RACIAL PAMPERING: Tale of ‘racist’ RapidKL bus driver goes viral
KUALA LUMPUR - Prasarana Negara Berhad is looking into claims made in a viral online article alleging that one of its RapidKL bus drivers was racist and unprofessional.
Communications and media affairs senior manager Azhar Ghazali said the company was aware of the article originally posted on funnymalaysia.net by one KavinKumar Puvanesan two days ago, relaying a series of incidents that took place in a bus ride he took from Pasar Seni to Puchong.
“We are conducting an investigation into the matter and are looking into the complaint.” Azhar told The Rakyat Post.
The article titled “Racist and Unprofessional RapidKL Bus Driver” said the driver had on one occasion refused to allow an old Chinese woman into the bus, telling her to, “go to he**” and take another bus.
KavinKumar added that merely 50 metres away from the bus stop, where the old woman and her many bags were, was a Malay-looking woman who the bus driver stopped for, despite the fact that she was not waiting at a designated bus stop like the old woman was.
This was just one of the many incidents he alleged had taken place in the single bus ride that he took.
“An old Indian lady got into the bus from the back door.
“This idiotic driver asked the lady, ‘Woi,you pakai apa? Woi aunty, you pakai apa?’ (Woi, what are you wearing?) The lady was slowly coming in front to the driver.
“The lady was so calm and told him, ‘Sorry lar child, I didn’t know I was supposed to come in through the front as I don’t take the bus often.’
“This driver shouted again at her, ’Next time if you don’t know, don’t come up.’
“He shouted so loudly in front of everyone inside the bus.”
The driver had also allegedly behaved rudely to an Indian family of four, talking to them in a disrespectful and harsh manner.
The author wrote that these acts came on top of the driver’s unprofessional conduct, such as neglecting to stop at the designated spots and driving recklessly.
“He doesn’t even know how to speak proper English and Malay. How can he become a driver of such a good company?
“I hope RapidKL will take strict actions on this driver,” said the writer.
The post received mixed reactions from netizens.
Some commented that the writer should have confronted the driver over his behaviour instead of being a mere bystander and writing about it later.
Others opined it was unnecessary to see the incident as being race driven as it was in fact a case of a rude driver with a bad attitude. - http://www.therakyatpost.com
