CJ denies he 'cabut' when Anwar opened fire
Ferdtan: Walking out of the court room and not wanting to hear Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim delivered a long diatribe against the judges who convicted him, wasn’t that fleeing (cabut)?
Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria, if you think you have done your duty as a fair judge, with Allah as the witness, then you should be able withstand whatever Anwar was throwing at you and your fellow judges?
You would be at peace, with your conscience intact, knowing well that you had done your duty. So why was it so difficult to hear Anwar out?
But no, you and the rest of the judges chose to walk out. Isn’t it the same as ‘cabut’? Obviously the truth must hurt. After so many condemnations made against the judges’ unjust conviction of Anwar, from both locally and the rest of the world, the CJ must be feeling sensitive.
Anonymous #44199885: The scathing remarks against the judges for leaving when Anwar was addressing the court would not have been made, or given any prominence, or the subject of any discussion had the judges just stayed and listened to him despite the tense atmosphere.
It was always going to be tense considering the personality in the dock, the nature of the charges and the circumstances surrounding the crime itself.

The five of you on the bench might not have sprouted wings and flown off, but you did make yourselves absent, and the speed at which you removed yourselves is immaterial; and, therefore, you did flee the room.

Similarly, when Arifin says "I bukan cabut, he means he did not flee the room. He just left the room quickly and took the other four with him.
And yes, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak reportedly met Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan just before the alleged sodomy to discuss a scholarship.
Ctizen With Conscience: Whether you ‘cabut’ by running away, or you skipped, jumped, hopped or tip-toed out of the court does not make a difference.
The fact remains you and the other judges left as soon as Anwar started to roar.
Legit: This is a new low in the Malaysian judiciary. Ariffin and his cohorts could not face the truth Anwar was lashing at them and ran away, as simple as that.
With this, the Malaysian judiciary has lost its moral authority and the respect of not just the Malaysians but people throughout the world.

JD Lovrenciear: Honour dictates that when a charged is speaking from the dock - whether fair or unfair the words, we stay and hear him or her out. Judicious dispositions demand that we remain impartial.
To vacate the bench is an expression of feelings, that is, that you do not take kindly to the words uttered.
The right approach is to let the limits of law take precedence and not stage a walkout as if to connote that you are reacting to it. -Mkini
