Among those present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and, his wife, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and his deputy Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, MIC president Datuk Seri G. "This year is going to be a very challenging year, with the drop in the price of oil," he said, after attending the open house at Wisma MCA.
"But I'm confident if all of us stay together, work together and pursue our common goal for Malaysia, we can make this new year a good year for all of us," he added.

"I would also like to wish a very Happy Chinese New Year and thank you to everyone who came for this open house today," he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Khairy who is also the Youth and Sports Minister sees this Chinese New Year as an opportunity for all Malaysians to come together and respect each other, in light of racist comments being said and posted from time to time.
"We are all Malaysians, and we need to have a great understanding," said Khairy.
"The government, my ministry, and all the political parties must find a way to increase the cohesion and unity among us all.
