Form 3 student traumatised after bullying by seniors

Incident stemmed from misunderstanding between two groups.
buliPOKOK SENA: A Form Three female student claimed to be traumatised after being physically bullied by senior students at a school in Pokok Sena here yesterday.
In the incident at 2.15pm, Nur Fatihah Md Lazim, 15, was at the motorcycle parking lot and about to head home with her cousin when a group of 10 female students allegedly confronted them.
“One of them asked me the same question repeatedly but because I did not answer, I was slapped on the left cheek by a senior student while the rest of them observed.
I retaliated by slapping the student but missed. After that she pulled my scarf and hair until I fell. I struggled with her for almost 10 minutes and then managed to get up and ride off on my motorcycle,” she told reporters when met at her house at Kampung Panchur, Mukim Derang, here yesterday.
The victim said as she was getting on her motorcycle, the student allegedly threatened to seek her out, prompting her to lodge a report at the Pokok Sena police station.
“I made the police report because I fear being harmed again. Last year, they also provoked me but I did not mention it to my family because I was afraid.
“But I am not going to remain silent anymore. After making the police report I was sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah by my sister. My mother had earlier contacted and told me that the group had come to our house and caused some disturbance.
“Afraid that things would get worse, we contacted the Pokok Sena police station and (were) advised to settle the matter at the Kota Setar police headquarters,” she related.
She said both sides agreed to go to the Kota Setar police headquarters, where the students apologised to her and her family.
According to her, police considered the case as closed but would re-open it if the incident happen again. Nur Fatihah said the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between two groups at her school; one group had mentioned her name, causing the other group to come after her.
Meanwhile, Kota Setar ACP Adzaman Mohd Jan confirmed receiving a report on the incident and said the case was filed under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
