KUALA LUMPUR - Alvin Tan has ruled out returning to the country despite being freed of a sedition charge.
Recently the apex court had unanimously struck out an attempt to reverse a lower court’s decision to drop a charge against sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee.
They were being charged for posting a controversial photo during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan in 2012.
“I won’t return even if they roll out a red carpet for me and popped some champagne for me.
“Returning is out of the question, no matter how many charges they drop,” he told The Rakyat Post.
He said Malaysia was history to him.
“I am not returning, even until my death. I don’t believe that it will ever be safe to return.

“It is my personal principle never to return to a country whose government and people have done so much irreversible harm to me.”
He also described how America had become his new home.
“I’m having a blast in America.”
Commenting on the dropped charge he said the decision had come too late.
“The moment they prosecuted us, it was already too late. They lost me already.
“Now we can all live in harmony; me chasing my dreams in Los Angeles and them doing whatever they do best: arresting dissidents, being corrupt and insulting citizens.” - http://www.therakyatpost.com/
