Jap hurts head, face on descent from Mt Kinabalu

Victim was given first aid before transported to Ranau Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Gunung Kinabalu_300_1KOTA KINABALU: A Japanese climber at Mount Kinabalu slipped and fell while descending from the mountain peak at about 7.45am yesterday morning.
According to a Sabah Parks statement here, the victim Yoshimasa Maekawa, 65 was injured on the head and face in the incident while coming down the 7.3-km track from the mountain peak at 4,095 metres.
Sabah Parks employees with the assistance of porters gave first aid treatment to the victim before carrying him down to Laban Rata at a height of 3,272 metres where a Sabah Air helicopter flew Yoshimasa to Kundasang before being brought to Ranau Hospital by ambulance.
According to the statement, the victim was reported to be in stable condition and would be sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.
Sabah Parks seeks the cooperation of climbers to be extra cautious during the climbing expedition at Malaysia’s highest mountain.
