Ministry sets ceiling prices for chicken, eggs, cabbages, garlic, pomfret, prawns and pork
PORT DICKSON: Chinese New Year price controls have begun from today until Feb 25 on 12 controlled essential items.
Domestic trade minister Hasan Malek said maximum prices have been set on the controlled items: live chicken, standard chicken, super chicken, chicken egg grades A, B, and C, imported round cabbages, garlic (from China), pomfret, large white prawns, prawn and pork.
“This will enable consumers to obtain necessary items for the festive season at reasonable prices, check excessive price hikes and reduce the burden of cost of living,” he said.
He said traders should place pink price tags on the controlled items to distinguish them from other items; the traders were encouraged to sell at prices lower than those stipulated.
